Just when things were looking up...

Just when the Billary Clinton campaign was starting to show it's true colors, this happens. People were starting to realize that Hillary was a cold, calculating politician with no stance except what could get her elected. Now she's a victim. I've got 10 e-bucks* that says within 6 hours of them catching this guy CNN or MSNBC reveals that he is either an NRA member, a soldier tragically wounded in some conflict under a Republican president, or in a militia. Maybe all three.

*e-bucks have neither physical form nor monetary value. 10 e-bucks will buy you a rousing attaboy from me, but that's about it.

Fast Food Freedom

So let's say we have two restaurants. One is a classy little restaurant, serving only the best foods prepared by trained and experienced chefs. The dining room is very posh, the waitstaff very trained and committed to customer service. The local food critics are going ga-ga over this place, and even the rich and famous need to make reservations months in advance. The other restaurant is a McDonalds.

Judged solely on the desire to eat a fine meal, most people would go the the fine restaurant. Not that McDonalds is truly bad, but if factors like screaming children and the time saved using a drive through were eliminated, you would be hard pressed to find someone who preferred a nuke-a-burger slapped together by a 17 year old kid trying to earn his next Xbox game to a fine meal prepared by a chef at the top of his game. This is what keeps the fancy restaurant in demand. You need to work to get in. You need to call the maitre d', make reservations. You can't just walk in. If they let just anyone in at any time, the food quality would drop due to an overworked kitchen, the atmosphere would be destroyed by people in stained jeans herding noisy kids. It might still be a good restaurant, but not a great one.

Now let's take immigration. We have a great country. People want in. They need to go through appropriate channels. Get a green card. Become naturalized. Get a social security number. You can't just walk in. I can't stand the arguement that illegal immigrants are just trying to work hard for their families. If America is going to stay great, we need people who know why it's great, not just people who know our wages are higher.

Illegal immigrants will always be illegal. Forever. They are criminals. This is a country of laws, and the law says if you want the benefits of being in America, you need to either get a permit or become naturalized. No one who is not an American citizen can change our laws. If we give amnesty to illegals, or make provisions allowing just anyone to walk across the border and start working, we do it to ourselves. Hmm... An American putting foreigners' interests above our own laws? Benedict Arnold? Julius and Ethel Rosenberg?
